  • Do your homework. Your recruitment manager may have a wealth of information about the school system and/or job opportunity you are interviewing for.  Don’t be shy. Ask about the school system, the administrative staff, special programs, etc.

The more you know about the school district, its students and its curriculum, the better prepared you will be to prove that your skills and abilities match their needs.

  • Prepare to answer questions. Practice your answers. Conduct a mock interview with friends and family. You will be asked a number of behavioral-based interview questions in your teacher job interview. Have your stories ready.
  • Have a list of questions ready to ask the interviewer.  Prepare a list of thoughtful and relevant questions to ask in the interview. This indicates that you have given the job opportunity some considerable thought before your interview.
  • Communicate effectively in your interview.  During the teaching interview, smile, speak positively, and use your body language to express your enthusiasm for the position. Enthusiasm is key to successful teaching.
  • Closing the interview.  Restate your interest in the position. Thank the interviewer for their time. Make sure you have all the pertinent contact information to follow-up.
  • Follow up after the interview.  Always send a thank you letter immediately following the interview to your recruitment manager. This will allow them to follow up with the client on your behalf. .

“For over 18 years, I have been involved in and supervising Speech-Language Pathologists. I must say that I have been most impressed with the candidates put forth by Mediscan. I would be remiss if I did not mention that our Mediscan employees have truly become an integral part of our Montebello family.”

“As professionals in the working field, we are always looking for what’s best for us. In my personal experience, Mediscan takes each individual’s needs into consideration. Mediscan isn’t just a contract company, it has become a part of my family. They put you first, not because you are client but because they know your worth as a working professional. I have been with Mediscan for four years now and I could NOT see myself with any other company. They are a great partner to have as you branch out into other opportunities. It has impacted my life for the better. I don’t feel like I work for Mediscan…I work with Mediscan Therapy Services”.

I have worked as a contractor with several companies in the past ten years. Mediscan is easily the best. Everyone I've had contact with as been both professional and friendly, at times going over and above to accommodate me. My recruiter has made every step clear and easy, and negotiated an hourly rate that I feel comfortable with. When I was having difficulty on my assignment, she stepped in and advocated for me. THEY SENT ME FLOWERS as a thank you.

I feel appreciated and valued. And in case I'm not sure, my recruiter tells me so on a regular basis. Good pay, a good assignment and friendly, professional interactions. I would recommend them to anyone.

It's all about you!

  • How exactly does a staffing agency work?  Mediscan will become your advocate and partner in representing you in the search for a new job opportunity.  We have secured and continue to secure new relationships with key administrators at school systems nationwide, which help put your résumé on top of the stack.  Once you accept a position through Mediscan, you become an employee of the organization.
  • Is it wrong for me to submit my résumé to multiple staffing agencies? No, it isn't wrong, but do limit yourself to a very few agencies. You want to avoid being presented to clients by multiple agencies as that may diminish your chances of being selected to interview.  As you begin speaking to recruitment managers, interview them as much as they are interviewing you.  Select the recruitment manager and staffing agency that you feel will best meet your needs and allow that agency the time to represent you to their clients.
  • What can a recruiting agency do for me that I can't do for myself? A good staffing agency will get your résumé and set up a pre-interview to talk about your skills, your goals, and the job you are applying for.  Résumés don't always do a candidate justice, and a good recruitment manager will draw out of you the information that is relevant to the position you are interests in. A good recruitment manager knows a lot about the job you are applying for and will provide you the inside scoop about the opportunity, prior to actually interviewing. Recruitment managers also have jobs that aren't posted and after talking with you, may recommend you for something you didn't even know was out there.
  • What is the etiquette in working with a recruitment manager in general?  Great question!  So glad you asked! Recruitment managers appreciate honest communication. If you are working with multiple agencies or are actively submitting résumés to prospective employers on your own, it would be better for everyone if you let the recruitment manager know. You don't have to give a lot of details but a recruitment manager is working on your behalf. Recruitment managers should never send unsolicited résumés and should always contact you before sending a résumé to a prospective client. A good recruitment manager will conduct a phone interview with you so they can properly prepare your profile to present you to their clients.  Keep it simple, keep it honest and keep the communication lines open.
