Our new blog series, “Get to Know Us! Faces Behind the Brand,” gives you the opportunity to meet some of our staff here at Mediscan. This month, we’d like to introduce you to Jeannette Nichols, a hiring manager who has been with Mediscan for three-and-a-half years. Jeannette is very passionate about helping children receive the services they need in her role with Mediscan. Her drive and ambition earned her a spot on the company’s inaugural Presidents’ Club to Cancun in 2017.
How long have you worked with Mediscan?
I’ve worked with Mediscan for three-and-a-half years.
What do you love most about working with Mediscan?
The opportunity to work with such amazing therapists and educators. I have so much respect for what our candidates do and I’m proud to play a small role in helping the children they serve to receive the services they need.
What advice would you give to a new graduate wanting to pursue a career in school-based therapy?
Schools are a great opportunity to get your feet wet. Schools are educational institutions that are not money driven or based on quotas. They offer the opportunity to start your career in a supportive learning environment.
What has been your favorite memory thus far as a hiring manager for school-based therapy professionals?
This is such a hard question to answer, as there have been so many! My favorite memories are those when a therapist or teacher has called and you can hear the excitement in their voice as they recount the progress a specific student has made.
What motivates you in your role at Mediscan?
Knowing that each day I am helping children receive services that will help them to excel in life. It is also knowing that by procuring quality candidates, I am helping ease the stress of the parents so that they know their children are in the best possible hands.
What keeps you busy when you’re not at work?
I love spending time with my son who is a Corpsman in the US Navy. I also enjoy traveling, experiencing other cultures, and visiting museums. I am a HUGE Seattle Seahawks fan and try to get to games as often as I can.
Where is your dream vacation?
I’ve always wanted to visit Thailand, and hopefully this will be the year I finally do it. I hear the people, culture, historic sites and beaches are amazing!
Tell us an interesting fact about you.
I dance salsa, cha cha and bachata. I’ve been dancing for about 10 years and have had the opportunity to train with some of the best instructors in the world, as well as travel to events across the country.
